What campers say
Upper Onion Creek Campground, set in Castle Valley near Fisher Towers off Hwy 128, is a small, rustic BLM site known for strong red‑rock views and close access to Onion Creek and 4WD trails. Sites are gravel/dirt with picnic tables and fire rings, and the campground feels quiet and secluded. Practical tradeoffs include minimal facilities (an open restroom and a vault toilet nearer the trailhead), little shade and occasional wind, limited cell service, and a tendency to fill up early. Good for overlanders and day hikers who want an inexpensive, off‑the‑beaten‑path base.
