    A very scenic spot to camp for a few nights. First come first served can be nerve racking on a holiday weekend but we lucked out and pulled in just as someone was leaving. The campground was full while we stayed but very quiet and peaceful. Surrounded by red rock cliffs the campground is very scenic. About a 2 mile drive to the main access road where all the popular attractions hikes are located. There are petroglyphs viewable a short walk from the campground. Verizon cell service is non-existent; a good place to get a away for a night or two. Some sites are setup for Class A’s versus 5th wheels with the hookups on the opposite side for nose in parking. We were in one of the class A sites with our fifth wheel and had to run the cables hoses under the rig.

Park Description

Valley of Fire State Park Campground near Overton Nevada offers RV and tent camping in a serene and beautiful setting. A few sites do have water and electric. Great hiking and historical sites within the park. Located north of Las Vegas off I-15 the Nevada State Park is popular in spring and fall when temperatures are more reasonable.

Camping: There are two campgrounds with a combined total of 72 units. Campsites are equipped with shaded tables, grills, water and restrooms. A dump station and showers are available. All campsites are first-come, first-served. A camping limit of 14 days in a 30-day period is enforced.

RV Camping: RV sites with power and water hookups are available.

Group Area: There are three group areas, each accommodating up to 45 people, though parking is limited. These sites are available for overnight camping and picnicking by reservation only. Call the park for reservations.

Valley of Fire State Park is famous for its red rock outcroppings and numerous trails meandering through teh desert landscape. In addition the location is home to a large variety of pictographs left by native populations.
