What campers say
Hidden Valley Campground sits within Joshua Tree National Park amid large weathered boulders and offers easy access to short climbs, bouldering areas and nearby trails. Campsites are close to rock formations, making it popular with climbers, families and stargazers — night skies are excellent. Sites are mostly first-come, first-served, so finding a spot can be competitive during peak times or special events. Amenities are basic: toilets and trash are available but there’s no potable running water, so bring plenty of water and layers for temperature swings. Rangers are generally helpful and the park atmosphere is quiet and scenic for most stays.
