Ellery Lake Campground is a scenic, lakeside mountain spot with clear water, strong views and excellent nighttime stargazing. Sites typically include a picnic table, fire ring and nearby car parking, though some sites are sunny and others shaded; tent areas can be small and the ground may be hard for stakes. Vault toilets and a hand water spigot are available, but a few visitors advised treating water before drinking. It operates first-come, first-served and can fill up quickly. Some guests reported inconsistent host enforcement and occasional people cutting through sites, so plan to bring supplies, insect repellent and warm clothing.

📖 About This Campground

Ellery Lake Campground near Lee Vining California is a US Forest Service managed area close to the entrance of Yosemite National Park. One of the more scenic campgrounds in the entire area. Located at Ellery Lake east of Tioga Pass, the east entrance of Yosemite National Park. Elevation is 9500 feet. Campground has 12 campsites. Some sites can accommodate vehicles up to 28 ft. Many sites do not have room to park a second vehicle. 14 day stay limit. Each campsite has a locker for food storage. This is bear country. First come first served. Accessed via a short paved road the campground is a loop in and out. Traffic noise is evident during busy seasons but views are amazing and generally this campground will not be as busy as the nearby National Park Campgrounds. Sites have picnic tables, fire rings and bear boxes.
