What campers say

Small, riverside campground about eight miles from Yellowstone's east entrance. Sites are wooded, well spaced and quiet, with many reviewers noting proximity to the Shoshone River. It's strictly hard-sided camping (no tents or pop-ups) because of bears; sites are first-come, first-served. Facilities are basic: vault/pit toilets and hand-pump water (requires effort), no hookups or guaranteed cell service. The location makes it convenient for early entry into the park, but expect primitive amenities and to arrive early to secure a site. A good choice for travelers with hard-sided rigs seeking a simple, close-in base.
