📖 About This Campground
Big Springs Campground in Island Park Idaho offers 15 primitive tent and RV camping sites near the headwaters of Henry's Fork of the Snake River. Part of the Caribou-Targhee National Forest (Forest Service) the first come first served campground is operated by a concessionaire. Popular outdoor recreation area including hiking, biking, ATV / UTV riding, fishing (begins 2 miles downstream), floating / kayaking the river, and many more. 25 miles south of West Yellowstone and the West Entrance to Yellowstone National Park at an elevation of 6400 feet. Big Springs Campground is the boat launch for the Big Springs Water Trail. This is an easy 2-4 hour non-motorized flat water float. The takeout is on the north side of the river 1/2 mile above Macks Inn. Water and restrooms are available.
Accessed via a paved road the park has a paved road within it. The group sites can accommodate larger RVs but care must be required when navigating within the campground as the road towards Site 1,2,3 etc requires a tight squeeze and turn. This campground is often lightly used. Water is available, vault toilets, fire pits and picnic tables.
