What campers say

The 400-acre lake and surrounding Pleasant Creek State Recreation Area offer a clean, family-friendly setting for kayaking, boating, swimming and shoreline fishing. A sandy beach, maintained campground and surprisingly tidy restrooms (including pit toilets) make overnight stays convenient, though some primitive sites are uneven. A popular 8–9 mile loop trail circles the lake and supports hiking, running and horseback riding; rolling hills and sandy or muddy sections can make routes more strenuous. The open lake can be windy, which affects small craft and paddleboarding. Fishing variety and scenic views make it a good stop for day trips, photography and camping, but expect variable fishing success.
