What campers say
Parkside Campground is a scenic, creekside Forest Service site with abundant shade and well-spaced, mostly level campsites. Guests frequently praise the hosts for keeping vault toilets clean and the grounds tidy. Amenities are basic but helpful—bear lockers, a dumpster, and occasional firewood for sale—and many find the river and views excellent for relaxation. Sites tend to be first-come, first-served during the season, and the campground sits near the Montana end of Beartooth Pass and a short drive from Red Lodge (Yellowstone access is a couple hours away). Note that generators are allowed and can be noisy, and trees may limit cell or satellite reception.

A very nice forest service campground adjacent to the creek. It is managed by a concessionaire whose camp host was unaware of the new Access Passes and tried denying us the use of it; very strange that the Iron ranger is so easily accessed by the camp host but I guess they trust them. He finally gave in when I threatened to call the Ranger. Two weeks before the 4th of July and the place was nearly empty; we had a prime spot overlooking the creek, which was roaring with snow-melt made for peaceful sleep. No Verizon service, very quiet at night, well kept pit toilet. There are a number of campgrounds in this immediate area plus dispersed camping a little further off the main highway. Beartooth Highway needs to be on your bucket list.
