What campers say
Mammoth Campground, inside Yellowstone near Mammoth Hot Springs and Gardiner, is a well-maintained, quieter option with large sites that accommodate long trailers and frequent wildlife sightings (elk, bison, birds, chipmunks). Hosts are noted as friendly and facilities include modern heated restrooms and accessible water fill stations. Practical tradeoffs: when many sites are open restroom capacity can be strained, and generator hours end by 8 pm, so plan power accordingly. Some sites have limited tree cover and grey-water disposal may require a short walk. Overall it’s a convenient, peaceful base for exploring the area.
