What campers say

Island Lake Campground offers stunning lake and mountain views with direct hiking access into the Beartooth range. Sites are generally spacious and well-kept, with cold potable water at the on-site spigot and basic pit-style restrooms; payment is envelope-based and sites are first-come, first-served. Expect active bears—use provided bear boxes—and bring plentiful insect repellent, as mosquitoes are commonly reported. The loop has a vehicle length limit (about 30 ft), so larger rigs may not fit. Hosts can be helpful but availability appears inconsistent, and occasional maintenance or cleanliness lapses have been reported.
