What campers say

Glade Creek Campground is a small, free, first-come-first-served site right on the New River with large, wooded campsites, picnic tables, fire rings and grills. Sites are primitive: pit toilets only and no hookups or showers, though bathrooms are generally reported as clean. Access involves gravel roads and a narrow single-lane bridge, cell service can be limited, and larger RVs may feel tight. Nearby Glade Creek Trail and Kates Falls plus river beaches provide good hiking and swimming spots. The campground is popular and can fill up early, and passing trains along the river can be noisy at night.
