Desert View is only open during the Summer months and is located within the park. It is within walking distance to the south rim's Desert View Tower. There are working restrooms and flushing toilets. No Showers--you'll have to drive to the village for that business. There is a General Store and a Gas Station near the Desert View Tower.

Desert View Campground offers outstanding Grand Canyon scenery with easy, short walks to South Rim viewpoints and memorable sunrises and sunsets. Sites feel more secluded than the main Village, with spacious tent sites, picnic tables, fire rings and occasional wildlife sightings (elk). Facilities are rustic but well kept — flushing restrooms, a seasonal camp store, and limited water options — and hosts and rangers are often praised as friendly and helpful. Tradeoffs include minimal amenities, a seasonal schedule (closed in winter), and occasional early-morning generator noise; reservations are recommended due to popularity.
