There absolutely are bears there. I talked to fishermen that saw them last year. Never go anywhere in this area without bear spray.

What campers say
Crazy Creek Campground offers scenic, well-kept sites with strong mountain views and a lively creek. Reviewers consistently praise very clean restrooms and helpful hosts, and several note easy access to nearby trailheads, a waterfall, and the Beartooth/Yellowstone northeast area. Sites feel roomy and wooded, making them good for tent campers while also accommodating RVs. Services vary: many mention potable water and showers, but a few report limited hookups or temporary water-pump issues, so plan accordingly. Overall it’s a picturesque, quiet base for exploring the region.

Stayed here two nights as the NPS campgrounds in Yellowstone were closed. Despite reviews found elsewhere about bears visiting the campground, the camp host who is in his second year hosting says there hasn't been a bear in the campground that he knows of during that time. First-come, first-served. Easy to get a spot mid-afternoon. Filled up as the day went on but never totally filled the two nights we were there. You can get 50%-off the posted rate with an interagency pass that includes camping. Fairly basic for a campground but that suited us fine as we were planning on spending the time we could in YNP. Sites do have a fire ring and picnic table. Attentive camp host. Does add driving time to get to the park but it's an easy drive and I saw wildlife along the way. Can't speak to the toilet as we're self-contained. The sites aren't level but not badly off-level either. No cell on either Verizon or ATT. Not for big rigs. Stayed here in a 24' Class B.
