What campers say
Bay Furnace Campground sits in Hiawatha National Forest on the shores of Lake Superior, offering shaded, wooded sites with easy beach access and a short drive into Munising for supplies. Campsites are mostly primitive (no electric or water hookups) but the campground provides potable water pumps, a dump station, paved internal roads, and a self-pay/reservation system. Hosts are frequently described as friendly and the facilities kept clean. There’s a historic blast-furnace site and good rock‑hounding nearby. Note tradeoffs: the short entrance road can be rough, some sites are tight for large Class A rigs, and insects may be seasonal.
