📖 About This Campground
Avalanche Campground in Glacier National Park offers primitive tent and RV camping in one of the most popular sections of Glacier National Park. Sites are located along 3 paved loop roads (A, B, C) and most all of them are pull thru style for easy entrance and exit. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Fresh water is available throughout Avalanche Campground along with restrooms (flush toilets, sinks and dish cleaning area).
50 sites can accommodate up to a 26 foot RV or truck and trailer combination.
Bear boxes are dispersed and shared. The area is frequented by bears so be aware of how you handle and store food and scented items.
Avalanche Campground sites are situated in a forested and shaded area. Some of the sites have good privacy with high shrubs and trees; others not so much. Use caution entering and exiting the campground as the area is a very popular day hike spot with lots of foot and vehicle traffic. A free shuttle stop is available just outside the campground for access along the Going to the Sun Road shuttle route.
Two very popular day hikes start adjacent to the campground: Trail of the Cedars and Avalanche Lake.
All sites are first come first served. At the beginning of loop A are a few hiker/ biker campsites.
