Alamo Canyon Primitive Campground is a tiny, four‑site spot favored by hikers, photographers and stargazers for its remote setting, dramatic sunsets and very dark night skies. It’s a bare‑bones site: vault/pit toilet, picnic tables, a charcoal grill and trash/recycling, but no water, electricity or reliable cell service. A roughly three‑mile dirt road is generally passable in a car but is best avoided after dark. Rules prohibit large RVs and generators; privacy varies since there are only four sites. Expect desert wildlife (coyotes, pack rats, bugs) and occasional border‑patrol activity—many visitors still report feeling safe.
