My Comments

William Kent Campground - My Rating is 3 out of 5 -- We've camped here twice, mainly for the location. If you want to be in Tahoe and near the city, it's a good choice. It's all dry so plan ahead, no showers either. The sites themselves get a 4 because they have nice tables and fire ring, separated nicely with asphalt pads, not level but not too challenging. They have re-designed the campground and changed the site numbers, so call ahead to make sure your rig will fit the spot reserved. What you see online may not be accurate. Example: Site 5 said 40 foot, but turned out to be around 20. Not good if the place is booked. We got lucky with one open site that was about 35 foot.

Port San Luis Harbor Campgrounds - My Rating is 5 out of 5 -- Port San Luis has to be on everyone's campground bucket list. The views are spectacular, the location is on the water, and the micro-climate allows excellent weather all year round. Restaurants and shopping are within walking distance. Avila Beach resort offers an excellent golf course, and there is a ton of activities to keep you busy when you're not watching whales breach in front of your RV. Note: The Port is embarking on a new development which will take out many of the beach front campgrounds. The Terrace project includes some 150 new campsites but they are up on the hill overlooking the bay. If you want a spot on the beach, get here soon. After the project starts these sites will be out of commission and the project is supposed to begin sometime in 2016. Advice: Have a plan B back up campground plan. It's a destination spot that is very popular and it doesn't take reservations. First come first served. Plan on arriving on Sunday through Thursday if you want a better chance. Forget Friday arrivals in the summer. Fall and winter you might have a better chance, but not much.
