Virgin River Canyon Recreation Area is a well-maintained, budget-friendly camping spot between St. George and Mesquite with scenic canyon views, Joshua trees, and paved RV-accessible loops. It offers about 100 sites, toilets with running water (no showers at most sites), grills, fire rings and a mix of reservable and first-come sites—reservations often require advance booking and sites may not be reservable within 48 hours. The upper loop is exposed to freeway noise while lower riverside sites tend to be much quieter and more scenic; trails lead to the river but access can be rocky and shade is limited. Cell service and restroom cleanliness vary.
