📖 About This Campground

Thorndike Campground in Death Valley National Park California is a National Park Service remote campsite accessible via foot, bike, or high clearance vehicles only. Seasonally available the campground is closed Nov-Mar. Free camping the sites are generally small and shaded. While the road may at times be accessible to sedans most of the site parking pads are steep and rocky making parking difficult without 4 wheel drive. A short but steep walk will take you down to the charcoal kilns or up to the ridgeline and Mahogany Flat campground. Campsites closest to the road are susceptible to dust from fast moving vehicles on the steep roadway. No views are available from this campground. Located at 7400 feet the campground offers cool weather camping in a shaded area. See another video of the RV Park/ Campground
