What campers say
Tettegouche State Park is consistently praised for its varied, well‑marked hiking system and dramatic overlooks such as High Falls and Shovel Point. Trails range from easy walks to steep routes with many stairs, so be prepared for strenuous sections on some hikes. The large, modern visitor center is a highlight—clean restrooms, interpretive exhibits, a gift shop, seating, and a staff‑run coffee area (and even an EV charger) make for an easy base. Campsites include cart‑in, rustic, and full‑hookup options and there is trailhead parking for backpacking. A few visitors report insects or spiders on trails, so insect repellent is advisable.
