What campers say

Stephens State Forest offers primitive camping and a network of multi-use trails popular with hikers and equestrians. Campsites generally include picnic tables, fire rings and mostly available toilets; many sites are first-come/first-serve with self-registration and helpful staff on site. Trails and roads are easily driven through and have scenic features like a wooden bridge; trail maintenance is generally adequate though some routes have downed trees, inclines and crossings. Expect seasonal tradeoffs: summer can be muggy with mosquitoes and spider webs, and wet conditions make some trails unsuitable. Sites tend to suit tents or small campers rather than large RVs.
