15-20 minutes off I-80 but secluded and full of trees. Lots of hiking trails and wildlife to watch. Operated by Iowa DNR. Clean restrooms and showers. A fun place for kids. I love this place for a weekend getaway.

Springbrook State Park near Guthrie Center offers scenic, peaceful camping with a small lake popular for kayaking, paddleboarding and fishing. Hikes around the lake are easy and rewarding, though some trail junctions lack signage. Campground facilities are generally clean, with restrooms and showers noted as well-kept, and sites are often uncrowded and quiet at night. Amenities include shelters, boat ramps and inexpensive electric RV hookups. Tradeoffs: cell and Wi‑Fi service is limited (good if you want to unplug), geese and their droppings are common along shorelines, and bugs and occasional beach water-quality advisories have been reported.
