What campers say

Ramsey Lake State Recreation Area offers scenic, tranquil camping among mature oak and old-growth trees surrounding a small, calm lake suited to paddling and fishing. Visitors consistently note clean, well-maintained campsites, shower houses, and friendly hosts. The campground is relatively small with shaded, spacious sites, though tight turns and dense trees can make maneuvering very large rigs difficult. Water and electrical hookups are limited in some loops and the horse camp had constrained water access, so plan accordingly. Trails and the boat launch are well kept. Some guests mentioned minor nuisances like occasional yellow jackets and that the lake isn’t suitable for swimming.
