📖 About This Campground
Pinnacles Campground, located within the Shoshone National Forest near Dubois, Wyoming, offers a serene camping experience amidst the breathtaking landscapes of the Wind River Range. Situated at an elevation of approximately 9,200 feet, the campground provides stunning views of Brooks Lake and the distinctive Pinnacle Buttes.
Amenities and Features:
- Campsites: The campground features 21 sites suitable for tents and RVs up to 32 feet in length. Each site is equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and bear-proof storage locker.
- Facilities: Vault toilets are available for campers. Please note that potable water is currently not available on-site; visitors should bring their own water supply.
- Recreational Opportunities:
- Fishing: Brooks Lake and the adjacent Brooks Lake Creek offer excellent fishing opportunities for trout enthusiasts.
- Hiking: Several trails originate from the campground, providing access to the Washakie Wilderness and nearby mountain lakes.
- Wildlife Viewing: The area is home to diverse wildlife, including deer, elk, and various bird species.
- Directions: From Dubois, travel northwest on U.S. Highway 26/287 for approximately 23 miles. Turn right onto Forest Road 515 and continue for 5 miles. At Brooks Lake, bear right onto Forest Road 516 to reach the campground.
- Elevation: The campground is situated at an elevation of around 9,200 feet, resulting in cooler temperatures, especially during the night.
