What campers say
Mt Lowe Trail Camp is a rustic, hike‑in site reached via the Mount Lowe Historic RR Trail. It offers secluded tent areas, picnic tables, benches, a privy, and visible ruins from the old Alpine Tavern that add historical interest. Water is spring‑fed and unreliable, so plan to carry and filter sufficient supply. There are fire rings but open fires may be restricted, so a camp stove is advisable. The approach can be steep and rough, making it less suitable for beginners. Mosquitoes can be heavy at times, and visitors are routinely asked to pack out trash to preserve the site.
