What campers say

Gould Mesa Trail Camp is a short, beginner-friendly backpacking option close to the city. The trail in is roughly 2.5 miles — the first mile is more urban while the final 1.5 miles follows a shady stream with several crossings. The small campground (around six sites) offers fire rings, a mix of picnic tables or simple logs for seating, and vault toilets; water is available in the creek for filtering. It’s a pleasant spot for a quick overnight or day hike, but visitors should be prepared for primitive facilities and be mindful of past reports of trash and wildlife activity.
