What campers say
Merritt Reservoir State Recreation Area offers striking countryside, varied campsites and easy water access; several loops (notably Cedar Bay) put tent and RV electric sites close to the lake and sandy beaches. Visitors note excellent stargazing and frequent wildlife sightings. Facilities are generally well kept—bathrooms and coin showers are available in some campgrounds—while other areas have vault toilets. Expect variable site layouts and levels, occasional algae or lower lake levels, and mixed road conditions to certain campgrounds that can be rough for trailers. Noise from other campers and bright host lighting have been reported at times.
