What campers say

Meeks Bay Campground sits right on Lake Tahoe with clear water, easy short walks from parking to the beach, clean restrooms, and solid campsite features (sturdy tables, deep fire rings). It’s popular for day use and paddleboarding. Tradeoffs include small, sometimes cramped sites, limited parking, and weekend crowding; some campers report road noise and late-night groups. Staff and fee enforcement experiences vary. Visitors should also be bear-aware, and pet rules are reported as strict but not always consistently enforced. Showers can require a short walk. Overall a beautiful, convenient spot if you accept the busy, compact layout.

📖 About This Campground

Meeks Bay Campground is situated between two popular California State Parks, adjacent to the beautiful Lake Tahoe. The crystal clear waters and sandy beaches, just steps away from the campground, provide a recreational escape for outdoor enthusiasts. The campground offers multiple single-family campsites for tent and RV camping. Some sites offer sweeping views of the lake. All sites are close together, some even sharing parking spurs, offering limited privacy between sites.Β Each site is equipped with tables, campfire rings and grills. Accessible flush toilets and drinking water are provided. Food storage lockers are available at each site in order to keep food packed away from a variety of wildlife. The 22-mile-long Lake Tahoe provides sunbathing, swimming, boating and water skiing. Anglers can look forward to healthy fish populations of kokanee salmon and mackinaw, rainbow and brown trout.
