Lonesomehurst Campground sits lakeside just outside West Yellowstone and the park's west entrance, making it a convenient, quieter base for visiting Yellowstone. Sites are roomy, some right on the lake, and many offer shade; a limited number have electrical hookups but sites lack water and sewer (spigots and pit restrooms are provided and reported to be well maintained). A full-time camp host and regular ranger visits help keep facilities clean. There is a boat launch, dock and canoe rental, and generally good cell signal. Expect a rustic, sometimes chilly high-altitude setting; a few visitors reported commercial RVs taking spots or sharing hookups, and occasional leeches have been noted.
