📖 About This Campground

Lake Piru Recreation Area Campground near Piru California offers full, partial (electric only) and primitive hookup RV and tent sites near a recreational lake. Located in Ventura County in the Los Padres National Forest next to the Sespe Condor Sanctuary the campground is primarily utilized by campers looking to boat on the lakes waters. There are coin operated hot showers in the Olive Grove restrooms and water faucets at various locations. RV units that are self contained may use regular campsites. There is dump stations near the lower Bathrooms in the Olive Grove Camping Area. The State Park Campground is managemed by concessionaire and has some weird reservation rules and requirements (visit the website for information) The campsites are situated on a slight hill/ slope and are accessible to most sized RVs. Located back in a canyon there is no cell service in this area. The road leading to the park is paved but winding and steep. Lake Piru is under quarantine due to a Quagga Mussel Infestation. In response the water district is draining the reservoir in an attempt to eradicate the mussels. Boaters can still use the lake as it drains but their boats will be flagged and they will be forced to prove a dry bilge and boat to launch in any other local waters.

Just found out about this place while looking for places to camp closer to home. Located 20 minutes past Magic Mountain within the rolling hills. Reservations were like any other campsite I've been to. Campgrounds are properly maintained and provide sites for both RV’s and tents. The staff was helpful and they provide clean bathrooms, hot showers and periodically drive by offering both firewood and ice for sale. While at a premium it is nice to avoid leaving the campgrounds for those items. Overall happy with my stay and plan on visiting in the future.
