A great overnight stop for our travels across Texas. Water and electric hookups worked great and dump station was easy in and out. The first site we were assigned was not very level but we easily moved to another after checking back in at the checkin booth. Pretty desert landscape with lots of cactus. A bobcat was roaming the area. We hiked a lovely trail along the banks overlooking the river that was not unreasonably long or difficult but still fun. Inexpensive; all in all a good stop

Lake Colorado City State Park is a quiet, well-maintained spot for camping, hiking and swimming. Rangers are repeatedly described as friendly and helpful, and visitors praise clean restrooms, cabins with basic appliances and abundant wildlife. The park offers water-front campsites and some pull-through sites that can accommodate larger rigs; a dump station is available though many sites lack sewer hookups. Trails are fairly easy with a few rock scrambles. Bathhouses are generally clean and updated, but some showers are small and not fully accessible. Expect a remote, peaceful setting rather than crowded facilities.
