This is a county run park that knows it is the bomb. Full hookups in a scenic setting with tons of fun activities onsite. We arrived in time to see the Festival of Lights which was amazing. Wifi worked pretty well but did occasionally go down. Verizon 4G was usable but not fast. There is a nearby library that was amazing for work with blazing wifi and private rooms. Lots of history and stuff to do but be aware the surrounding area is a bustling city that has long ago forgotten what southern hospitality is (and this goes for some of the locals that visit the park during daylight hours). We paid $75/ night which was honestly a bit steep. Sites did go unused in the evenings and there were lots of in and out stays while we were there.

James Island County Park offers spacious, well-equipped RV and tent sites with full hookups, picnic tables, fire rings and easy access to laundry, clean restrooms/showers, a camp store, and a dump station. The park is family- and pet-friendly with extensive paved walking/biking trails, a large dog park, paddle rentals, a splash zone/water park and seasonal events such as the Festival of Lights. Staff are consistently described as friendly. Practical tradeoffs include early-morning vehicle and maintenance noise on some days, sites getting muddy in heavy rain, and variable internet (private satellite can work well; park Wi‑Fi reported around 10–12 Mbps). Close to Charleston and shops.
