What campers say
Fort Defiance State Park offers surprisingly varied, scenic terrain with creek-valley walks, elevation changes, multiple trails and several well-built bridges. A restored lodge and nearby picnic/grill area are tidy and useful for group gatherings. Camp options include electric and non-electric sites geared more toward tent camping; some sites lack full camper pads. Trails provide good exploration but can be unevenly marked, and parts of the park show less upkeep. The setting is generally peaceful, though occasional noise from a neighboring gun club is possible. Visitors report friendly, leash-kept dogs and pleasant scenery overall.
