Fishermans Island State Park in Charlevoix Michigan boasts over six miles of unspoiled Lake Michigan shoreline. The island in which the park was named no longer exists. Due to years of lower water levels in Lake Michigan the island has become a peninsula now lush with native wildflowers. There are 80 rustic campsites with 15 of those nestled in the dune area along the Lake Michigan shoreline.

Fisherman's Island State Park offers a classic Lake Michigan beach setting with long sunsets, easy access to a walkable island, and good opportunities for finding Petoskey/Charlevoix stones. The campground is largely quiet and wooded, popular with tent campers and small trailers; vault toilets are kept clean. Expect rustic amenities — no hookups or reliable electrical service, limited dump/fill options — and some campsites can be uneven or set back from the water. It’s close to Charlevoix for supplies, but some visitors report occasional noise from a nearby cement plant. Overall a peaceful, scenic spot for beachcombing and nature-focused camping.
