📖 About This Campground
Falls Campground, nestled within Idaho's Caribou-Targhee National Forest, offers a serene retreat along the Snake River at an elevation of 5,100 feet. Located approximately 45 miles east of Idaho Falls, this campground provides a variety of recreational opportunities amidst picturesque surroundings.
Campsites and Amenities
The campground features both single and group sites, each equipped with picnic tables, campfire rings, and grills. While there is no electricity, amenities include vault toilets, drinking water, and trash collection services. Firewood is available for purchase from the on-site host. Please note that roads and parking spurs are gravel.
Natural Features
Set among cottonwood trees that offer partial shade, the campground is characterized by grassy meadows and seasonal wildflowers. The nearby Fall Creek Falls, a scenic 60-foot cascade over a travertine outcropping, is less than a quarter-mile away and visible from certain areas within the campground. Wildlife enthusiasts may encounter eagles, osprey, moose, and deer in the vicinity.
Recreational Activities
The Snake River provides excellent opportunities for cutthroat trout fishing, canoeing, floating, rafting, and kayaking. The nearby Conant Boat Ramp offers public access to the river. Additionally, the Fall Creek area boasts numerous trails suitable for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and ATV adventures. Palisades Reservoir, located less than 20 miles from the campground, is ideal for boating, water skiing, canoeing, fishing, and swimming.
Additional Information
- A fee of $8 per extra vehicle is collected at the campground per day.
- ATVs and OHVs are not permitted within the campground.
- To prevent the spread of tree-killing pests, please obtain firewood near your destination and burn it on-site.
