What campers say

Camp Hale Memorial Campground is a clean, well-maintained, historically rich spot in the Colorado Rockies with sweeping mountain views, wildflowers in late July, and interpretive plaques about its WWII past. Sites feel private with shade and are good for tent camping, biking, hiking and nearby trail access (including the Colorado Trail and Kokomo Pass); Leadville is a 15–20 minute drive for services. Amenities are basic: vault toilets only, no hookups, water, or dump station, and little to no cell service. Hosts are praised as friendly and helpful. It’s generally quiet, though some visitors report road noise at night.
