About Albion Basin Campground
Albion Basin Campground near Salt Lake City Utah (closer to Sandy) is a US Forest Service campground (Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest) offering 19 primitive tent and small RV camping sites at over 9,000' elevation in an area renowned for its late summer wildflowers. The campground usually does not open until early July due to deep snow pack. Numerous hiking and mountain biking trails in the area along with cool mountain air and amazing scenery make this a prime camping destination for folks looking to get away. Picnic tables, fire rings, and vault toilets (no running water). Moose and deer frequent the basin and mountain goats can often be seen on the precipitous face of Devils Castle, just south of the campground. A small stream runs through the basin. Little Cottonwood Canyon is a beautiful area known for its soaring peaks, unique geology, pristine hidden lakes and cascading streams. Numerous additional hiking and mountain biking trails are found throughout the canyon. Rock climbing and fly-fishing are popular activities as well. Snowbird Resort is just a few miles down-canyon, offering scenic tram rides, hiking, mountain biking, restaurants, groceries, an Alpine Slide, zip line rides, concerts and various festivals.
