Wilgus State Park

Wilgus State Park, located in Ascutney, Vermont, along the Connecticut River, offers a tranquil setting for outdoor enthusiasts. Established in 1933 through a land donation by Colonel and Mrs. William Wilgus, the park was developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its well-preserved CCC infrastructure.   Recreational Activities:

• Paddling and Fishing: The park's location on the Connecticut River makes it ideal for canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. A hand-carry boat launch provides easy access to the water.
• Hiking: Two trails lead to Pinnacle Point, offering scenic views of the river valley. The Pinnacle Trail is an approximately 1-mile loop, while the Wilgus Nature Trail provides a 0.5-mile walk with tree identification signs and a viewing platform.

Camping Facilities:

• Campsites: The park features 17 tent sites and 6 lean-to sites along the riverbank, each equipped with picnic tables and access to water spigots.
• Cabins: Four rental cabins are available, offering a cozy alternative to traditional camping.
• Amenities: Modern restrooms with flush toilets and hot showers are provided. A trailer sanitary station is located near the ranger's quarters.

• Picnic Areas: Equipped with CCC-era stone fireplaces and picnic tables, ideal for day use.
• Group Facilities: A small group camping area and a picnic shelter are available for reservations.

Operating Season: Wilgus State Park is open from early May through Columbus Day weekend.
