We stayed here again due to full parks further inland. The same situation stands now as always. The office staff is not that great, although a bit better this time they really do need customer service skills improved. A huge advantage this time was the deal they had running allowing us to pay for 2 nights and get the 3rd free. This lowered the nightly rate to $60 per night on average for a pull thru site (yeah that is $90 per night normal rate).

The park does have visible 24 hour security and in speaking with one of them I learned that even then they can’t quite cover the whole park. Apparently over the last 6 weeks a number of high end bicycles have been stolen from inside the park!

We had site 45 which was a concrete pull thru right next to the security booth (yes I purposefully choose that site). The site was a bit snug to pull in to and I needed to park dead center to be able to pop out the slides. In getting to the site I was handed a map and that was it; no escort or further instruction provided. The interior roads are tight and turns too but I was able to make it in to the site (it was dark when we arrived).

It is a short walk over to the beach. Lots of homeless in the area and we did not feel comfortable there. Ventura is in real trouble with this.

They have really spiffed this place up! New palm trees, site pads and an overall upgrade to the park makes the place now worthy of their incredibly high prices. We are locals to Ventura County so are not big fans of the homeless problem and the way Ventura City is handling it. The park has gates and aggressive security keeping you safe. My reduction of a star was a result of this aggressive security presence; I went out for a bike ride in my workout clothes and upon returning was raced up to by two security guys wanting to know “what I was up to”. It so shocked me I was left speechless. I guess it is both a good and a bad; they are on top of it but make sure you don;t look homeless 🙂

Office staff is still gruff, price is still high, the freeway is still right there but overall this is now a positive choice in the area. Verizon 4G was great. We paid $90 per night with tax.

Have to agree with the above review. We pulled in on a Friday and the park was maybe 13 full. Needed to stay one week and their website has a $360 370 rate. Well after adding in the extra car, our 18 month old son, and indoor cat they wanted $470 before taxes for the week. Sorry but this place is not worth that amount at all.

Really cant say much about this park. Called twice and first time I was placed on hold for 5 minutes before hanging up later the same day I was placed on hold for 10 minutes only to have the lady come back on the line and say she will call me back in 10 more minutes. Guess they are really doing a killing and didnt need our business.

Park Description

Ventura Beach RV Resort in Ventura California offers full hookup RV sites and primitive tent sites adjacent to US 101 and the city of Ventura. Walking distance to the popular beaches and to downtown Ventura. The property was recently upgraded with improved pads and vegetation. A popular destination for locals on weekends and holidays.

Accessed off the Western end of Main Street the park has all paved roads and a mix of paved and concrete parking pads separated by mowed and watered grass. The park has a number of pretty palm style trees that create a Caribbean/ beach style theme. Guests, and for that matter all entrants, are immediately greeted by security who will direct you to the proper location. To check-in guests enter the main office/ store at Ventura Beach RV Resort. There is no escort to your site so travelers with large RVs should use caution as the roads are relatively narrow and corners can be tight.

Guests have a choice between pull thru, backin and tent sites and further options to be located within the center of the park, near the freeway or around the perimeter (center sites are best). The park has a playground, next to the freeway, pool and spa, behind the office, and propane fill available.

The grounds are nicely landscaped providing an elegant overall feel. Sites are not huge but not overly cramped either. For a Southern California private resort within walking distance to the beach the facility is one of the better choices in the region.

Rates are a bit steep at the park with high regional taxes pushing the daily rate in to the $70-$90 per night range. The park does fill during weekends and holidays; advanced reservations are recommended. During the week, notably in “off-season”, the park has plenty of available sites.

The separate designated tent camping area has a nice tropical vibe to it but does backup to the riverbed which is home to homeless camps (Ventura City has a serious homeless issue and always has). It is strongly recommended that you ensure all belongings are properly locked or stored out of sight.

Guests can walk down the sidewalk and via a paved path to the beach. For cyclists their is immediate access to the Pacific Coast Bike Trail and the bike path to Ojai.
