📖 About This Campground

The Pads Campground in Ryan southeast of Death Valley National Park along CA Hwy 190 provides primitive and free boondocking campsites in a former RV park location. The area was once used and created for a nearby mining facility that has since been abandoned the property is utilized by RV and tent campers as a free place to camp near Death Valley. Located in the middle of nowhere the destination is popular with winter visitors but is available year round. Dark night skies and pretty sunsets/ sunrises. No amenities, utilities or restrooms you must be self contained. A mix of eclectic and normal campers this location is a bit of a trip depending upon who your neighbors may be. While technically public land the location is not managed by any agency. Free access for boondocking style camping. Suitable to any size RV; just be prepared to do a little bouncing around to get to the sites. The campsites are on concrete parking pads or wherever you want to stay. There is some highway noise depending upon which way the wind is blowing.
