Stone Mountain State Park offers varied day-hike and camping options centered on a dramatic granite dome, overlooks and waterfalls. The campground has standard state-park sites with roomy tent pads, picnic tables, potable water and generally clean restrooms and showers. Trails include a popular loop to the summit plus side routes to Cedar Rock, Wolf Rock and Widow’s Creek/Falls; views and rock formations are highlights. Visitor center and a small homestead exhibit add history, and a nearby general store can be handy. Tradeoffs: cell service is limited in places and some trail sections show erosion or temporary closures, so plan accordingly.
