Shackford Head State Park (Eastport) offers well-groomed coastal trails, rocky beach access, and broad bay views with notable historic remnants and coastal features. Trails vary from easy flats to more rugged headlands and are walkable from town for visitors who can manage a mile or so. A recurring downside is a heavy presence of fire ants during summer, so many find the park more pleasant in cooler months. Trail markings can be uneven in places, but overall the setting and shoreline scenery make it a rewarding short hike for those prepared for seasonal pests.
