Rocky Gap State Park offers a well-kept, scenic lakeside camping experience with clean bathhouses, roomy parking, and a range of water rentals (kayaks, canoes, paddleboards). Campsites are generally spread out with several lakeside options and trails for family hikes; there’s a nature center and a small snack shop for basics. Practical tradeoffs: highway and occasional resort/casino noise can carry across the water, some shore areas show variable water levels and bird droppings at times, and a few sites need gravel or routine maintenance. Seasonal services (camp store, nature center) may be limited. Overall a family-friendly, relaxing spot.
