What campers say
Popham Beach State Park offers a long, sandy, dynamic shoreline that changes dramatically with the tide. Low tide exposes wide sandbars, tidal pools and walkable routes to nearby islands, making it popular for exploring and long walks. Facilities include parking, restrooms and outdoor showers, and lifeguards are present in peak season; there is an entrance fee. The beach can get crowded but parking is generally available. Be mindful of the tides to avoid being cut off, expect cold water at times, and consider insect repellent for biting flies. Ongoing erosion and nesting-bird protections affect certain areas.
