What campers say
Poinsett State Park is a well-kept, scenic park with roughly 20 miles of marked trails, a waterfall loop, and a small lake for fishing, kayaking and paddleboats. Visitors praise friendly, attentive staff and camp hosts and find the cabins, campsites, playground and signage family-friendly and clean. The park gets good use from hikers and mountain bikers and offers a small camp shop and restroom facilities by the office. Practical tradeoffs: some guests reported troublesome ants and limited camp-store hours, and parts of the bathhouse were being maintained during visits. Overall, a peaceful, activity-rich spot for day trips and overnight stays.
