Pleasant Valley Campground is a quiet, scenic Forest Service site on the American River with well-spaced sites, river access, short trails and a few nearby waterfall hikes. Typical rustic amenities include vault toilets, a water pump/spigot, picnic tables and fire rings; overall sites feel more secluded and generally less crowded than nearby national park campgrounds, with a convenient drive to Mt. Rainier (about 20 minutes). Many visitors appreciate the peaceful setting, wildlife sightings and winter trail grooming, but recurring downsides include frequent ant activity and sticky tree sap. Sites are mostly modest in size, so very large RVs may be cramped.
