Pink House Recreation Area campground is managed by the Bureau of Land Management and is a great place to stay. It's 30 miles east of Lewiston. The hosts actually came out to greet us when we pulled in, made sure we were comfortable and happy with the campground and came to say good-bye when we left. There is a restroom but no showers. The sites are paved with a table and fire ring at each site. There are no reservations, first come, first served. The campground is on the Clearwater River and there's a nice little beach and path that goes down to the river. Only 2 pull throughs, but long back ins, all full hook-ups. Big aspen and pine trees all around. Jim and Debra, the hosts, keep this campground immaculate. Close to Dworshak Dam and Fish Hatchery and Lewis and Clark's canoe camp. Town of Orofino is not far, we were there on Cinco de Mayo and found a great little Mexican restaurant.

What campers say
Pink House Recreation Site sits on attractive, well-maintained grounds with riverfront access and a sandy beach. Campsites are roomy, groomed, and easy to back into; there are tent-only river sites and full-service RV hookups with electricity, water, and sewer. Restrooms are repeatedly praised for cleanliness and flush toilets. Many visitors describe the hosts as welcoming and helpful, though some guests reported confrontational interactions, so experiences may vary. The park offers a convenient boat launch and nearby picnic spots, but expect some road noise from US-12; local patrols were mentioned and can add a sense of security.
