Pierson Ranch Recreation Area is a family-friendly state campground on the north end of Lake Yankton with large, shaded sites for tents, RVs and cabins, paved bike trails, playgrounds, disc golf and courts, picnic shelters and waterfront access for non-motorized boating. Amenities include a bathhouse with free showers, potable water and a nearby dump/water fill station, and some electric hookups. The park is well maintained and not densely packed. Tradeoffs: strong winds occur at times, cell/internet reception can be poor, and full hookups or more convenient water access may be limited or across the road.
