Observation Point Campground is a rugged, high-elevation alpine retreat perched at 7,650 feet above the historic Magruder Corridor in the Bitterroot National Forest. Tucked away at the end of a steep 9-mile forest road climb, this ultra-remote, 5-site sanctuary provides a true backcountry dry-camping experience meant for tents, overlanders, and small, high-clearance setups under 16 feet. Highlighted by the meandering waters of Chuckling Creek and sweeping, panoramic viewpoints overlooking the 2.3-million-acre Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness, the campground offers profound, untouched solitude. Operating entirely on a free, first-come, first-served basis with no potable water or garbage services—and notably lacking even picnic tables—it is the ultimate "pack-it-in, pack-it-out" destination for self-reliant adventurers and stargazers seeking a pristine piece of the Northern Rockies.
