What campers say
Nelson Park is a quiet, hill‑nestled campground with three distinct camping areas, cabins, a shower house, playgrounds and a small lake with a boat ramp and dock. It’s popular for fishing, kayaking, hiking and stargazing, and some sites offer electrical service (including a few 50‑amp pads). Practical tradeoffs include a small, shallow lake and beach that several visitors say suffers from algae, mud and snails and could use dredging and more sand. Campsite pads may need additional rock and leveling. Staff are generally helpful and the park feels rustic and family‑friendly rather than highly developed.
